Mackinaw Shirt - Ecru Jaspe Gingham
$ 395 USD

The Mackinaw Shirt is revised this season in an Indigo selvedge jaspe gingham check. Milled on a vintage power loom in Japan, the indigo dye is presented in a discrete melange tone that is both a by-product of the older equipment used during weaving and inherent in how jaspe cotton is woven - by twisting two different color strands of yarn together to produce a subtle relief in the fabric.

The Mackinaw shirt is a reference to the namesake jacket style employed in various contexts in American history - originating in the late 18th century from the Mackinac Straight area of Michigan - but shifts the focus from the heavyweight uniform to durability in much lighter forms. The selvedge jaspe of this season has a heathered, thick hand-feel despite being lightweight and suitable for year-round wear. The shirt features four large front pockets on the chest and a rear notebook compartment, a reverse box stitch pleat on the back yoke, Italian corozo nut buttons, and a comfortable fit.
